4 Millenium Cameras for photographs of Lake Tahoe for 1.000 years

Millennium Camera

Jonathon Keats has set himself a feat when using long exposure photography with 4 Millenium Cameras. His goal is to use a 1.000-year shutter speed to document how time passes in the Lake Tahoe basin.

To understand what a Millenium Camera is about, we have to go to the year 2015 when Keats introduced it. It is a simple copper chambered device with a hole drilled through a 24 karat plate.

It will be during the next 1.000 years when the Millennium Camera, since will be 4 used, which will have its objectives set in the environment and thus document all the transformations of the environment that are carried out.

There will be four points in which Millenium cameras will be located to take pictures of traditional landscapes. These cameras will have a plaque nearby that explains the purpose of their project called the Tahoe Timescape.

The main idea is to see how the environment is transforming over time with a passage of years that will reach 1.000. It will be in 3018 when his work is exhibited, as Keats himself has stated in the announcement of this project of great interest for photography and to have a graphic document that bears witness to so many years.

Millennium

We cannot remember any similar project in which ideas are projected over a huge time frame and in which events of all kinds can be captured and recorded; especially related to nature and the passage of time.

Jonathon Keats is an experimental philosopher which seeks to answer how the earth will change in the coming years. Existential question for a moment in which we are devouring the planet for an excessive consumerism and that seems to have no end; an idea and criticism that collects the German artist Sergio Ingravalle.
