For 2 years, Leah Pattem has been photographing the streets of Madrid to capture those bars and cafes so well known and that will not take long to pass away.

The series it's called 100 Of Madrid's No-frills Bars and they capture those magical moments of the bars of the most traditional Madrid and the one that is not so. A moment to stop and look closely at those bars in the capital of Spain.

Due to the terrifying rent increase in the center of Madrid, especially for Airbnb, is leading to many people having to leave the city center and look for their home in the suburbs. The same thing is happening with a lot of bars that will soon close their doors due to the increase in the monthly payment in order to maintain centenary establishments.

That majority of family-run bars can be find in any corner of our capital, but it is a matter of time before they disappear before the vile irruption of services like Airbnb.

Pattem wanted to confirm all those bars and their unique facades to safeguard the memory of many Madrilenians and those millions of visitors who have once passed for their tapas, their beers and those traditional wines.

Although it must be said that thanks to pattem's gaze some bars are regaining attention lost in years. A very positive point at a crucial moment in which that memory and that spirit of many establishments in Madrid that were watchwords is being lost.
