A few days ago the 4th meeting of letterpress printers where met typography and design lovers with the aim of sharing, showing and bringing to light the full potential of this printing technique. Experimenting with physical types is one unique experience that cannot be felt if we only use the computer. I encourage all designers / artists that if you ever have the opportunity to work with types, do not hesitate to do so.

At the event we were able to see first-hand the result of a typographic workshop made between lovers of this typographic art. From posters to Christmas cards, the small exhibition showed very clean work with certain experimental touch.
We can see a small sample of some of the work exposed in the typographic event.
As we can see in the photograph, they can be combine different colors and fonts being able to even use illustrations and all kinds of physical elements that can be stamped on the paper. We must not forget that it is a pressure-based printing system that exercises the printing on a surface, innovate and experiment is something we have to do to Unleash the full potential of this technique.
Two designers are in charge in Tenerife of recover all that typographic material that is about to be discarded to give it a new use and not let it be forgotten. Matthias beck He has completed his graphic design and typography training in Berlin. Resident in the Canary Islands since 2007, he founded the Rosebud design studio in 2008. Lars Petter Amundsen He studied graphic design and typography at Central Saint Martin's College of Art & Design in London. Since 2003 he has lived in Tenerife.

We have seen letterpress printing in our day to day because it is something that is used a lot: from dies that cut certain shapes up to relieve (high or low) that manages to add that different touch to our design. Is a nice system that causes nostalgia at the time of use by all those lovers of design.

Some techniques no matter how long it takes they manage to overcome the passage of time and get into new technologies, getting to stand out among them. We must see these techniques not as something ancient without value but as a possibility to create something different, and even more so if we combine it with new technologies.
