Abstract, a Netflix series about design

A few weeks ago, Netflix announced "Abstract: The art of design", a documentary series that through 8 episodes will explore the work, process and way of understanding design and see the life of 8 renowned designers in different areas such as graphic design, illustration, photography ...

Each chapter will be dedicated to each of the areas presented in this miniseries, and for this, each chapter will reflect the work of a renowned artist from each area.

This series will be available worldwide on February 10 and all the chapters will be available from the beginning.

Here is a list of each of the artists participating in this series:

Paula Scher

Paula Scher - Graphic designer, partner of Pentagram (United States)

Paula Scher is one of the most relevant figures in American graphic design of the last four decades. He began his career in the 70s. In the 80s, his eclectic approach to typography was highly influential, and in the mid-90s his identity for the Public Theater established an entirely new symbology in the realm of cultural institutions. Since 1991, she has been the director of the New York office of Pentagram.

Christoph Niemann - Illustrator (Germany)

Christoph Niemann is illustrator, graphic designer and (co-) author of several books including some children's books. After studying in Germany, he moved to New York City in 1997. His work has appeared on the covers of The New Yorker, Atlantic Monthly, The New York Times Magazine, and American Illustration, and has won awards from AIGA. Niemann is a member of the Alliance Graphique Internationale. He has been a speaker at the Design Indaba Conference twice, in 2006 and 2013.

After 11 years in New York, he moved to Berlin. Since July 2008, Niemann has been writing and illustrating the New York Times blog. In 2010, he was inducted into the Art Directors Club Hall of Fame.

In 2013, he released his first interactive illustration in the form of an iOS app called Petting Zoo. On June 21, 2013, Google used two of its images to celebrate the summer and winter solstices of 2013.

Tinker Hatfield - Nike Shoe Designer (United States)

Tinker Haven Hatfield is designer of numerous Nike athletic shoe designs, including the Air Jordan 3, including the 2010th anniversary Air Jordan XXIII, the 2015 (XXV), the 9 Air Jordan XXXNUMX (XXIX), and other sports shoes, including the world's first cross training shoes, the Nike Air Trainer. Es Devlin - Set Designer (England)

Es Devlin is a set designer. She also works as a creative director for pop artists and has been designing shows for Louis Vuitton since 2014. Devlin designed the closing ceremony for the 2012 London Olympics. She was named OBE (Order of the British Empire) on the Queen's New Years Honor Roll in 2015.

Platon - Photographer (Greece)

Platon is a photographer who has taken portraits of various presidents and well-known figures of the world. His photo of Vladimir Putin made the cover of Time magazine in 2007.

Born in London in 1968, he was raised in Greece by his English mother and Greek father. He attended St. Martin's School of Art and the Royal College of Art, where one of his teachers and mentors was John Hinde (photographer).

Ilse Crawford

Ralph gilles

Ralph Gilles - Automotive Designer (United States)

Ralph Victor Gilles is an automobile designer. Gilles was President and CEO of Chrysler's SRT brand and Chrysler's Senior Vice President of Design before being promoted to Head of Design for Fiat Chrysler Automobiles in April 2015.

Gilles designed the North American car of the year 2005. Also He led the design team that created the 2014 SRT Viper.

Bjarke Ingels

Bjarke Ingels - Architect (Denmark)

Bjarke Ingels is a Danish architect. He runs the architecture studio BIG Bjarke Ingels Group, which he founded in 2006. Bjarke seeks to achieve the balance between traditional architecture and avant-garde architecture.
