Adobe Illustrator: Blend Tool

Adobe Illustrator

There are Illustrator tools that can give us a lot of play if we know them, one of them is fusion.

As its name indicates, it will allow us to merge paths. We can adjust the number of times it is repeated, and therefore the final result. There are different tricks and options, in this article we can see some of them.

Create a simple blend with Illustrator

First of all, we will learn how to perform a simple fusion in order to understand how it works. The steps to follow are as follows:

  • We open the program and make a line with the brush tool.
  • We duplicate the line and place it on top.
  • We select the two strokes.
  • We go to the top menu: Object - Fusion - Create.

Automatically a merge of the lines will be created. That is, between the two initial lines, the stroke will be repeated. The next step is to decide how many times do we want it to be repeated. To dial the number we must follow this route: Object - Fusion - Fusion options.

A window will be displayed in which we will look for the option "Specified steps" where we can mark the exact number that we want. Since we do not have much practice, we can mark the option "preview" to see the final result.

Apply color to blend

We can play with the color that we apply to the fusion, that is, one option is to apply different colors to the lines to create a color gradient. Let's look at a visual example to understand this concept.

Specified distance

Another option that this tool allows us is to decide la distance we want to apply between line and line. Depending on the effect that we want or that best suits our design, this option will be key to achieving an optimal result.

Applications

The applications of this tool are endless, we must apply our creativity to exploit it. It is an ideal tool to add depth to objects. To inspire you, we show you some simple ideas that will give a special touch to your design.
