Affinity Designer and Affinity Photo have received a major update for two programs that have become a real alternative to Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop. We talked not long ago about the best alternatives to Adobe programs.
It was Serif that revealed the biggest update for your Designer and Photo tools. They are just going the way of supporting HDR and what would be an improved performance to be able to work much better with these incredible tools.
By the way, we have forgotten the link to that infographic with all the alternatives for Adobe. It is version 1.7 that Affinity takes to push the performance of its apps to another level thanks to the introduction of GPU acceleration, support for HDR monitors and a completely rewritten memory management system.
The best are coming to Mac and Windows versions of the tool, just like the iPad version. In fact, the two apps are now optimized to work on the new XDR Apple Pro Display monitor, as has improved performance on newer Macs.
It is Windows users who have to wait a bit so they can enjoy hardware acceleration, although the new memory management is already available.
Specifically, at Affinity Photo we talk of these improvements:
- Improved RAW processing engine so that it charges faster.
- An improved brush engine that includes new brushes.
- 32-way symmetry mode
- Improved image batching, a new assets panel, and an improved layers panel.
Affinity Designer receives:
- New isometric tools.
- Vector shapes can now count with an unlimited number of strokes and fills.
- Most of the vector tools have been improved.
- Greater range of lasso mode selection
