Alan Moore, creator of V for Vendetta and Watchmen, retires from comic book making

Watchmen

After having written some of the most famous comics and acclaimed by critics of all time, among which is Watchmen, V for Vendetta or Killing Joke, Alan Moore has confirmed that he is withdrawing from this type of format and medium.

At a London conference to present his latest work, Jerusalem, Moore said that only 250 pages left of comics to write. It will end Cinema Purgatorio and what would be a new book, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, to finally end the comics as it claims.

The decision comes after you have realized that felt too comfortable in the middle. He thinks he has done too many comics and that everything is already done. He thinks that, if he continued working on comics, ideas would inevitably suffer and he could be seen in a way that neither himself nor anyone else wants.

Now, what interests him are things that he does not know if he will be able to do, such as movies, where he does not have a clue of what he is doing, or even large literary novels. Seeks challenge yourself and feels that he is capable of proving himself in other types of fields that are more challenging.

Moore owes a lot to comics, and already to DC Comics he was enthralled when he worked with them in the 80s, the owners of Batman. He has since mentioned that he wished his name had been removed from all comic work that he does not own, including Watchmen and V for Vendetta, which remain the property of DC Comics.

It has also been one of the critical voices with the deal that Hollywood is giving to its comics. At that conference in London, he confirmed that Jerusalem would not be adapted into a movie, or not unless he has to say something on the matter.
