Brandalism: 82 artists take 600 'fake' advertising posters to the streets of Paris to protest COP21

Brandalism

Just days before the start of the COP21 Climate Change Summit that is held in Paris during these days and after the terrorist attacks that occurred in early November, 600 posters have been distributed through the streets of Paris as a sign of protest.

The posters were put up behind the glass that cover the advertisements that are often seen at bus stops around the city. Large posters that have replaced those of the big brands and that have been designed by 82 artists from 19 countries to satirize the advertising messages that are usually found throughout the Parisian streets.

Organized by the Brandalism project, the staging has the goal of challenging corporations who take these very important climate talks for themselves, highlighting the link between brand or corporate advertising with excessive consumerism, climate change and the consumption of fossil fuels.

Posters do reference to many of the corporate sponsors such as Air France, Dow Chemicals or GFD Suez (Engie). Some of the images passed through Photoshop use the same branding and message of the original advertisement, forcing the audience to look closely for the content of the hundreds of posters that have been found on the streets of Paris these days.

«By sponsoring the talks on the climate, the biggest polluters like Air France and GDF-Suez-Engie they can promote themselves as part of the solution when they are really part of the problem"Says Joe Elan of Brandalism.

Escif, Jimmy Cauty, Neta HarariBansky collaborator Paul Insect and Kennard Phillips were among the dozens of artists who have created the posters for these days of Brandalism. You can see more than 600 posters created for COP21 at Street art news and Brandalism's own website from this link.

El art always as a form of rebellion and I shout to attract attention as are other very striking works of the Bansky himself.
