Clear Technique: Learn to set goals

technique-clear

On some occasions we have highlighted the more human component of our sector and is that motivation plays a most important role. Knowing where we are going and why we choose a certain professional branch and what we hope to find within it is important. It is perhaps a more personal or intimate component, but at the same time it can become a very powerful source of energy.

Having a defined path and a few well-defined steps will help you feel a little more confident and oriented. When you know where you want to go and which way you want to go, everything becomes much simpler and easier to organize. A good strategy may be to develop more humble and small objectives, but that little by little will lead us towards the final objective or towards the end of our professional career.

Today I would like to share with you one of the micro-trainings of our colleague Sandra burgos, as you already know, creator of space 30K coaching where it deals with different topics related to the world of emotional intelligence and leadership skills. This micro-training focuses on Clear technique which provides us with five criteria for setting goals.

The Clear technique is used for the formulation of effective objectives and is used mainly at the business level, although of course at the individual level it can also be applied. It is not clear who was the first person to formulate this technique, but its use has become very widespread in the business world. It is a system of 5 indicators with which you must evaluate each of the objectives pursued by your business before starting to work on them, since its adjustment to these indicators will largely depend on its potential success. The letters that make up the word Clear, which in English means "clear" are the initials of these 5 indicators in the original language.

We are going to see the indicators by applying them directly to one of the objectives of your business. To do this, I need you to write down on a piece of paper one of the objectives that your business pursues. When you have it, the evaluation begins.

Challenging = Challenging
The first characteristic that the objective of your business must fulfill is that it be challenging, that is, that the achievement of said objective requires an effort to be considered relevant. If it is not challenging, it is not a goal, it is a mere task. What do you think? Is the goal you wrote on the piece of paper challenging?

legal = legal
The second characteristic of the objective of your business is that it must be legal, that is, it must comply with the explicit rules of the geographical context where it takes place. This shouldn't be a complicated feature to fulfill. How do you see this requirement in your goal?

Enviromentally sound = Harmless to the environment
The third characteristic of each objective of your business is that it must be harmless with the environment, or what is the same, it must be respectful and conservative with nature. How about? Is your goal harmless to the environment?

Appropriate = Appropriate
The fourth characteristic of effective business objectives is that they must be appropriate. This means that, if fulfilled, they will result in exactly what we are looking for and not something else. Make sure your objective is worded so that it does not leave room for ambiguity.

Registered = Registered
And finally, the fifth characteristic that the objective of your business must fulfill is that it must be registered in writing, that is not a simple intention in the air. What happens in your case? Does your goal appear on paper?

And good? This is the Clear technique. What has been the effectiveness diagnosis of your business objective? Go to the comments section and tell us where your goal was missing and how you have rephrased it.
