Tokyo-based French graphic designer, Mike Wrobler reinvented the characters from the famous series "Game of Thrones". In this way, the video game Grand Theft Auto sought to take characteristics such as washed colors, marked shadows and a very particular color palette. On the other hand, it takes the typical expressions of each character and transport back to the 80s with a very specific clothing of the time.
Definitely, the style proposed by the artist gives a different impression than what we have when we see the characters in their normal clothes. Now bows, dragons and swords are replaced by revolvers, food, objects and contemporary clothing. In the article you will see Gangster-style performances that will make Daenerys queen of the meerkats, Jon Snow lose his sword, and even Jeoffrey look more sinister than ever.
Wrobel's inspiration comes from various places. The artist grew up watching series like "The X Files", reading horror movie magazines. He also took his inspiration from the constructions he made with legos when he was little.
In conclusion, this project is already several years old makes us think of other possibilities when deciding the concept of a feature film. What would the series have been like if it had adopted the style of the video game? We know that the number of adults watching illustration-type series is growing. However, they remain in a position of tiny audience. While today newer character design software and player platforms have increased capabilities; surely the favorite series of recent times would have been overlooked had it been drawn by Wrobel, but we have to accept that his GTA style is fantastic.
