Hair Trimming in Photoshop CC: Easy, Fast and Professional

http://youtu.be/sscYtCjBLxc

Hair trimming has always been problems when integrating our characters into our compositions. Above all, when we work with a feminine image with abundant hair, this can become quite a challenge. The possibilities are several and many of them quite laborious, but with this video advice we can face this task in a simple, easy way and with a totally professional appearance.

The trimming process that I will show you today is very fast so it can save us from trouble on more than one occasion and consists of the following phases:

  1. First we will import the image on which we will work. This picture must have a great definition, so if you are going to work on a photograph taken by you, you will have to work on aspects such as lighting or focus.
  2. We select the brush tool and then an option that is placed under the front and back colors, this is called «Edit in quick mask mode» (we can select it by pressing the Q key). Now we will begin to review the entire figure of our character, without leaving a single hair. It does not matter if the review is not very precise, it will be enough for us to have all the elements that we want to include in our cutout.
  3. Press the tool again «Edit in quick mask mode» and it will create a selection for us.
  4. We press Selection> Invert to select the area that interests us.
  5. We go to the tool Bow and let's put on the option "Edge refinement".
  6. A window will appear with a series of settings, these will vary depending on the characteristics of our photography. But there will be two parameters that regardless of the image we are using, must be selected. The view mode must always be on black and the "decontaminate edges" box must be activated.
  7. Once we have established the ideal parameters, we must begin to go over the entire white area that surrounds the image, emphasizing the hair area.
  8. We repeat the process as many times as necessary.
  9. We import an image to place it in the background of the composition and adapt it to the ideal dimensions with editing transform (Ctrl + T) and holding the button Shift (uppercase) pressed to do it in a proportional way.
  10. We create a chromatic integration effect through the tool Photography filter. (Image> Adjustments> Photo filter) and we apply the one that best matches the shades of our background.
  11. We work on lighting integration with the tool Curves (Image> Adjustments> Curves).

Challenge achieved!

I think I do better with channels ... the ideal would be a hair extraction tutorial but when it has a more complex background with more colors.
