Since Pantone was founded in the United States around 1962, it has become one of the most widely used color classification and organization systems by designers in all fields. As you know, the selection of colors is classified through a code or numbering and is very wide, covering more than ten thousand variables. Each of the shades inserted in the Pantone catalog has an identifier and in this way it is practically impossible to go wrong when choosing a tonality. These errors appear very frequently when there are different screen calibrations or when working with different color modes. Every year the palette is renewed and readjusted so it is interesting that we visit the catalog often.
Although it is most recommended that we get the color chart on a classic or paper support, many designers cannot get it since the price is quite high, if I am not mistaken, its price varies between 70 and 300 euros. the network there are digitized versions that may be useful at some point for any job although I remind you that Adobe Photoshop has an integrated digital catalog. To access this catalog we only have to follow the following steps:
- We will go to the color palette to click on the front color.
- In the pop-up window there is a button called «Color library«
- Within the upper options there is a drop down tab. If you click on it you can choose which Pantone catalog you want to use.
- Last choose the desired shade and work with her.
As I said you can also access digitized sheets through the net. Here are some examples:
