Stop thinking about the application and start drawing the experience

design in a project

En an increasingly connected world and in which the user has the power to end the reputation of a company with a single click, offer a good user experienceWhether through an on-site application or web project, it is absolutely essential.

So this time I'm going to share a concept which we have already talked about a couple of times, both in practice, and in articles and discussion groups: The connection experience.

What is the connection experience?

connection experience

Basically the idea is that the designer should not worry "only" about designing apps, websites or any product to be drawn, but also this you must think of all the interfaces that the user can use to connect with the company, either through the support of the sales channel, a post on Facebook, the news section of the blog or the application itself.

«The designer should think about connected experience that extends beyond the screen and extends to all contact points»

I increasingly believe that the graphic designer must take into account all these points of which we are and we are going to talk and everything in order to normalize all user experiences when it comes to feel the quality when using the application.

After all, a site with perfect ease of use makes no sense, with a beautiful interface, but that this offers a bureaucratic and stressful support service for the user, since the user experience will be compromised and nobody will remember the beautiful icons that you have designed and that are in perfect harmony with the rest of the site and unless you work within a project where all participants and designers are Star Wars fans, something you have in common with them (irony) or play ping-pong with your company's CEO, we assure you from now on that it will not be easy for you as Graphic Designer change the way the sales team works. But you can try to ease the user's pain making a good experience for this one, paying much more attention to those pages that nobody likes to spend a lot of time drawing as «Help» or «Contact»Since we're going to be honest, this part is very boring.

What can you do as a designer?

What can you do as a designer

And it is not difficult to find sites / applications that have an incredible interface, but when you try to go to the "Help" section or the "Contact" screen, we see more crappy designs than seem to have come directly from blogspost (Google, this is nothing personal.)

With this we can see that some companies do not even bother offer the end user a design that is pleasant And to say, come on, I love the design of this page, I'm going to stay longer visiting it. And it is that little by little designers have to begin to be aware that a good experience transcends even off the screen and that this extends to the entire environment in which the user interacts with the brand.

Some years ago a designer's tasks were much more predictable and participated in a graphics-focused skill set. Today they demand much more multidisciplinary knowledge and sales techniques, scheduling, personnel management and more, in other words, every day the designer's work is more about creating experiences For people just designing a website or app.

Ok, we can say that design as we know it is changing, but to what extent are you as a graphic designer? you are interested in offering simplicity in a client's project in certain parts of this? Is this recommended for you? Realize that project design talks about you as a designer And an unattractive and useful design can put you off being contacted for other jobs.
