François Brunuelle: This photographer is dedicated to finding unrelated doubles all over the world

The myth of the double or doubles is a classic in our history appearing in a large number of fables and myths. In fact the word sosias (double), is actually the name of one of the characters in the play Host. Since Mercury posed as Sosias in that story, this word remained as a legacy and what for many is an invention or even impossible for other people, this has become a real fact. Sometimes chance is so capricious as to bring together two unknown and identical people in the same place or in the same circumstance.

Some of them have been collected through François Brunuelle on the occasion of the project of this Canadian photographer. This artist has set out to gather lookalikes around the world as a way to get a feel for the capriciousness of nature and circumstances. In addition, our artist says that we all have at least seven doubles scattered around the globe. Then I leave you with a sample of his project although of course you can take a look at his complete work through your official website. It is surprising to take a look at his proposal, especially when knowing that none of his models have direct ties or kinship ties.

But to what extent can this be common? According to biologist Michael Sheeham, in our species there are many more genes involved in shaping our physical appearance. In fact, there are a greater number of variables involved in defining facial features than in any other part of our body. However, although that number of variables is enormous, it is still a limited number while there are billions of human beings, so it is perfectly possible that there are equal peopleI have very similar features in different parts of the world. The number of cases is limited, but yes, more abundant than we might believe.
