This set of decoration pieces is loaded with emotional values referring to childhood, the embroidery and craft values. Such characteristics make it highly attractive, nostalgic and luxurious. In fact, thanks to this, he has won mentions and appearances in Elle Decor, Interior Design Magazine, Diito Dansart and Milan Fashion Week.

The Silaï collection is made up of rugs, cushions, puffs and tables with a great sense of aesthetics and proportion. These are individual products that can be "mix and match". The design concept was thought so that the user can play with the elements, changing their place or face. So the beanbags can be relocated in different places on the carpet by contrasting color. Also the cushions can be turned to reveal a textured side and a smooth side. Thus the user has the option of energize your living room with only two or three changes.

The design process

The design process was carefully developed over five years. During this time he got special attention to use, shape and color. This long design process can categorize the collection within the “Slow Design” movement. In this way Lancelot took enough time to thoroughly develop the concepts he was working with. For this he was inspired by embroidery patterns taken from an old book which reminded him of his childhood. He then selected a total of four final patterns that easily combine with each other. Then he sought to play with the scale maximizing point size to make the collection's intricate textures and handcrafted features tangible.

For the design of the rug he was especially inspired by the aerial section. The use of this grid allows to obtain proportionally modulated elements. So you take those elements and feed them into a grid to generate a giant patchwork log. In this way, it plays with color by generating contrast.

Responsible design

Gan social share

The designer made an alliance with the Gandiablasco carpet producer, under the program of GAN who works with a production company in India. This company, in addition to use natural fibers like linen, cotton, silk and jute they work with artisan specialists. They also seek to promote the development of the social economy of the communities where they are located. So, employ female workers in situations of inequality providing job opportunities to Hindu women in rural areas. On the other hand, they have programs and protection for children.
