Special: The first time of art

international day

Today is international art dayMaybe we celebrate the part of our world that makes us most human. A kind of manifestation of our nature that has been growing and permeating all facets of our species. Art is books, art is a photograph, a video, a film, a song, an interpretation ... But Have you ever wondered who were the fathers of the legacy that we preserve today? Have you ever wondered how and when the arts were born?

Here are the origins of sculpture, drawing, music, photography, film and the web. I know that I have left many other great arts such as acting, dance or typography ... But I know that doing this post would be impossible to bring together all the arts, I would always leave some (which is a very good sign). Enjoy it!

First sculpture in history

The oldest stone-made object is over 400.000 years old, has a human shape, and according to a study carried out by the journal Anthropology Actual, is partially man-made. It was found in Morocco around 1999 and since then the debate continues latent because many scientists find sufficient reasons to affirm that it is a creation made by our ancestors, although there is also another group of scientists who defend that the formation occurred accidentally. by the phenomenon of erosion.

First drawing in history

The moment in which the human being was able to draw a line and give it meaning was the moment when he literally made contact with a higher dimension and was able to enter the world of abstraction and ideas. Contrary to what has long been thought, Homo sapiens was not the first to develop a visual composition. This zigzag-shaped line made on a mollusk shell is more than 400 thousand years old, so it was indeed the most primitive representative of our genus, Homo erectus, which already had the ability to symbolize and think about abstract. A minimalist work of art that forever changed the notions that were had about prehistory and the level of evolution that our ancestors possessed.

First song in history

Music is perhaps the most universal and autonomous art form there is. A language effective enough to convey information with power and power regardless of any external factor. Unlike visual art, music does not require any kind of prior preparation to be unraveled, any kind of knowledge or base culture. It will thrill us with equal intensity regardless of the type of receiver we are. Many studies have been carried out to discover what was the first song generated by man since his arrival in the world. Around the 3400s, some clay tablets were found in Mesopotamia, more specifically in the excavations carried out in the Royal Palace of Ugarit. It deals with the first hymns composed by the human being. They are 1400 years old (it belongs to XNUMX BC) and is a composition developed to invoke the Goddess of the Gardens, Nikkal, whose name means Great Lady and Fruitful mother of Yarikh, the God of the Moon. The tablets provide instructions on how the theme should be interpreted with a harp or lyre.

First photograph in history

Is called Point of view du Gras and was captured around the year 1826 by the legendary engineer Nicéphore Niépce from his barn. After carrying out an analysis of the photograph with an X-ray spectrometer, the materials used to take that first photograph have been revealed: A heavy tin photographic plate covered with a kind of liquid mixture of judean bitumen and lavanta oil that is hardens or solidifies when exposed to sunlight. It is stored at the University of Texas at Austin.

First film in history

Surely if you wonder which was the first video captured in the history of mankind, authors such as Lumière or Thomas Edison assail you, but the truth is that none of these three characters captured the first film but it was the French inventor Louis Le Prince in the garden of his in-laws' house in England. It is called "The Roundhay Garden Scene" and has an extremely short duration (specifically 1,66 seconds) but long enough to be considered the first film in history . It was filmed around October 14, 1888, that is, two years before Thomas Alva Edison and seven years before the Lumière brothers. It is made up of 20 frames that, when reproduced with the Le Prince projector at 12 frames per second, give us the 1,66-second duration of the tape. However, a recent digital remastering expanded the footage to 52 frames, which when played back at the current 24 frames per second speed of conventional cinema, yields an expanded 2,11-second tape.

However, the true father and creator of cinema had a tragic end shrouded in mysteries. He disappeared on September 16 without a trace around 1890 in France. He took a train to visit his brother and then go to the United States to present his invention and obtain the patent. He got on that train and disappeared from earth. He left no trace. The body and his belongings were never found. The most widely considered theory is that he was assassinated under Edison's order in order to obtain the patent for the cinematograph.

First website in history

Tim Berners Lee launched World Wide Web a way to exchange information through computers. On April 30, 1993, the first document open to everyone was published and it would be the first web page in the history of mankind. The goal of Berners-Lee, who was 34 years old at the time, was to improve information management at the European Center for Particle Physics (CERN) where he worked in Switzerland. “We were in 1989, the internet already existed, we could send emails but there were no pages on the net. There was no http or html. You could not query a page to see its content. I started to get very frustrated about it. I imagined a system in which, in a simple way, a person could visit one page after another and from there I decided what I wanted to build ”, explained the creator in an interview. You can visit it from this link.
