Sheltered by a dark and decadent environment Steve Cutts shows us his vision of the worst parts of society, denouncing and putting those concepts in a balance in our minds.
Steve Cuts is a freelance illustrator and animator based in London, previously working for many years at the creative agency Glueisobar, where carried out high-impact digital projects for clients such as Coca-Cola, Google, Reebok, Magners, Kellogg's Virgin Nokia or Sony.
In 2012 Steve left his job at the agency to enter a world where he himself dictates what he wants to create and communicate, this leads him to work in various agencies with closer audiences where he can develop his work. His work has been featured on several televisions around the world and in addition to his portfolio, which you can find on his website, on his YouTube channel you have a few shorts with great social criticism.
In most of his work he is dedicated to criticizing society openly and without ulterior motives, the most marked objective of criticism in his illustrations and shorts is consumerism imposed by the big brands, which he criticizes without shame and points out that they control the information we devour, turning us all into individuals who allow themselves to be carried away by the consumerist tendencies that they impose on us.
Technology does not escape the limelight in Steve Cutts' acid and dark illustrations, in many of them smartphones are seen as objects that subjugate humanity stripping us of freedom or turning us into zombies. In a world where technology should set us free and where ease of communication should bring us closer to people, it is really moving us further away from each other and is cornering us in a virtual world where experiences are not real.
