Studio Ghibli returns with 'The Red Turtle', a beautiful film co-produced with a French studio

We've been talking about Studio Ghibli numerous times in the last few months since the release of the OpenToonz animation software, or to celebrate the 75 years of one of the myths of this animation studio as it is Miyazaki.

It is now that we can say that soon we will see a new tape with The Red Turtle, a co-production with the French studio Bulevar de la Croissette and that will take us to another of those overwhelming and beautiful stories that Studio Ghibli usually collects.

The red turtle is a French-Japanese animated silent film by director Michaël Dudok who tells the story of a castaway who ends up alone on an island inhabited by turtles, crabs and birds. Like Robinson Crusoe, he learns to live in isolation until one day another castaway, a woman, arrives on the island and with whom he begins a life together.

The red turtle

A story that has a lot to do with the journey of the Japanese studio that does not stop reinventing itself to almost be reborn from its own ashes. An animated film that advocates another visual style a bit far from those details of Miyazaki's but that presents some shots, which can be seen in the trailer, of enormous quality and a lot of beauty.

The tape has been created mostly in Europe and Ghibli has been in charge of providing the project and part of the financing. While the film tends to be more western-style characters, which are the backgrounds, it follows that unmistakable style of the Japanese studio which creates a quite interesting combination.

Fantasy is another fact of this film in which it is shown how that red turtle destroys the raft created by the castaway, so that on his return he finds that woman who will become the mother of his son.

Reach in theaters June 29 and in domestic format for July 13. You have the Facebook of the movie to follow.
