When we face large-scale projects such as advertising campaigns or complex animations, it is necessary that we train a larger team of colleagues, that we distribute tasks and divide our objective into concrete steps. For this reason, coordination and communication becomes essential. Whatever the project, there is a tremendously interesting technique that helps to offer a wide range of solutions to possible problems from the hand of experts and qualified professionals. In our professional area, there is a conceptualization or conceptual design phase that leads to another planning phase. Depending on the objective we hope to achieve through our work strategy, we will encounter more or less complex obstacles. In the case of jobs that require facing important special effects and very elaborate planning, the presence of professionals from different fields and specialists in certain areas is necessary.

The Technique of Round table It is used in very different contexts, especially in the academic and business fields, because its structure is ideal for dealing with complex issues between experts. What is?

What is the round table technique for? Well, what is sought when using this technique is that a complex subject is investigated and treated thoroughly. For example, imagine that, after a labor law reform, a consultancy constantly receives inquiries about how this reform affects the reality of each client. What this advice can do to save time and resources in dealing with all those repetitive queries and to provide a better quality service is to convene a round table on the subject.

How It Works

But how do we do a round table? To start with, we need people who are experts in the topic we want to discuss or people who are committed to researching and becoming well informed about that topic for the session. We also need someone to be in charge of the moderation and, of course, a space where all the people interested in the subject and who want to attend are welcomed. In the example of the consultancy, the director has brought together her 4 workers and has asked each one to thoroughly investigate the application of the labor reform to their specialty. Then, she has sent an invitation to attend all her clients so that they can benefit from this training session, which she has decided to moderate herself. At the time of the launch of the round table, all the clients sit in seats facing the main table where the moderator and the 4 experts are seated. The moderator introduces each expert and the specific topic they will deal with and, one by one, they briefly present the situation from their specialty. The role of the moderator is to prevent the topic from straying and to direct the order and duration of the interventions. Then comes the really interesting part. The clients present their specific concerns and doubts that have arisen as a result of the interventions and, from the round table, the experts dialogue with the public and with each other to give a combined and complete answer to each question.
