I found this mix of infographic with comic from Joshua Edric which I think perfectly summarizes the 5 most important basic tips that a designer should follow if they do not want to die trying to dedicate themselves to this fantastic profession.
After reading them tell me that you have never fallen into any of these errors ...: P
- Never touch up a design in front of the clients: If you have ever done it you will know that they are capable of driving you crazy with their requests.
- If you do not charge just enough, you are devaluing your work and that of other colleagues in the profession: All, absolutely all of us, have made designs charging very little (especially if they were for friends or family) or even giving them away ... or not? But if you take these as usual, clients will never take your work seriously.
- The client always expects you to finish quickly and feels entitled to annoy you: How many of you have received e-mails or calls like… »you've finished now»… »you have a long time left»… »I don't understand that it takes so long to collect four photos and put a background on them»?
- All customers want something "good, nice and cheap" but in design, most of the time, it is impossible to unite these three things.
- Before you start, ask for an advance and do not deliver the work without charging it in full: And I would say more, make a budget and have the client sign it so that later they do not try to pay you less because they believe that your work does not deserve the amount agreed at the beginning.
