The art of michael wilkinson represents all that is magnificent and beautiful in the human spirit, using the ideal to show us the possibilities in life and the potentialities within ourselves.
Born in California and formed as architect, Michael Wilkinson began his artistic career in New York in 1979. In 1985, Wilkinson went from working uniquely on bronze, to work in the young middle of cast acrylic. Un precursor en el medio, Wilkinson utiliza acrílico para crear mundos oníricos, comunicar temas complejos al mismo tiempo la incorporación de realismo en su arte.
Unlike the traditional ones, these acrylic sculptures they have no beginning and no end, without back and without front. These sculptures are seen in a new way, studied and observed in their entirety from the inside and outside. Wilkinson has been working in acrylic for almost a decade, Wilkinson is constantly expanding his talent for sculpting "light" in original forms.
My acrylic sculptures are a mixture of figurative and abstract forms, a fusion for creation and acrylic is very suitable. I start with clay, a clod of earth, but end up having created an ethereal world infused by light. A wonderful aspect of acrylic sculpture is that it is clear on the inside, like a "fourth dimension" that allows the viewer to look into the work. This feature offers the greatest challenge in working with the material because the original sculpture model is made of opaque clay. While the plaster or the creation of the model, you have to imagine through the plaster what is happening within the work.
