Los Angeles resident artist (Jedediah Corwyn Voltz) builds miniature tree houses wrapped around houseplants or common bonsai trees in his new sculptural series titled 'Somewhere small' or as he titles in English 'Somewhere Small'. Voltz has worked over a decade for film and other projects to craft each structure from scratch with small pieces of wood, silk cloth, miniature works of art, and semi-precious stones that are hidden in unimaginable places.
To date it has produced some 25 small habitats that resemble real structures, from small watchtowers in isolated forests, windmills or big water wheels. The pieces seen here will be on view in 'Normal Virgil'in Los Angeles from this April 23.
Jedediah Corwyn Voltz is dedicated to creating paintings, and illustrates from his studio in Silverlake, California. His work is influenced by alternate futures and parallel universes. Then we leave you a gallery of images with his works, you have to have imagination, time and creativity.
Jedediah Corwyn Voltz He always seems to be surrounded by half-finished plants and sculptures, in his last series of works he has elaborated tiny tree houses around succulent plants and cacti.
I create buildings to stop movement, says voltz. I found myself making little fancy constructions out of these trees or plants during my downtime. Last year, I have built my first treehouse, since then I have made almost 25 of them. In addition I have built small watchtowers in isolated forests, platforms in the treetops to give a feeling of meditation, and giant animated windmills and water wheels.
