The most practical keyboard shortcuts in Illustrator part II

In the first part we made a small compilation with the most practical keyboard shortcuts. In this second classification, we offer you a list of commands that can be equally quite effective, although this will depend on our way of working and the methodology that each designer follows. If you have any advice or input, don't hesitate, Let us know!

Commands are classified into the following panels or options:

Transform objects:

  • Set the point of origin when working with the rotate, scale reflection or distortion tools: Alt / Option + Click.
  • Duplicate and transform selection when working with rotate, scale, mirror, or distort tools: Alt / Option + Drag.
  • Transform motifs when working with rotate, scale, mirror or distort: > + Drag.

Work with text:

  • Move the cursor one word to the left or right: Ctrl / Cmd + Right / Left Arrow.
  • Move courses up / down one paragraph: Ctrl / Cmd + Up / Down Arrow.
  • Align paragraph to the left, right or center: Ctrl / Cmd + Shift + L / R / C.
  • Justify a paragraph: Ctrl / Cmd + J.
  • Increase or decrease the size of the text: Ctrl / Cmd + Shift +, (comma) /. (point).
  • Increase / Decrease line spacing: Alt / Option + Up / Down Arrow (vertical text) and Right / Left Arrow (horizontal text).

Use panels:

  • Show / hide all panels: Tab
  • Show / hide all panels except the tool and control panel: Shift+Tab.
  • Select a range of Actions, Brushes, Layers, Links, Styles, or Swatches: Shift+Click.

Brushes panel:

  • Open Brush Options dialog: Double click on brush.
  • Duplicate brush: Drag brush to the "new brush" button.

Color panel:

  • Change fill or stroke not active: Alt / Option + Click on color bar.
  • Change color mode: Shift + Click on color bar.

Gradient panel:

  • Duplicate color stops: Alt / Option + Drag.
  • Apply a color to the active color stop: Alt / Option + Click on the swatch in the swatches panel.

Layers panel:

  • Select all objects on the layer: Alt / Option + click on the layer name.
  • Show or hide all layers except the selected one: Alt / Option + Click on the eye icon.
  • Lock or unlock on all other layers: Alt / Option + Click on the padlock icon.

Transparency panel:

  • Disable opacity mask: Click on the layer thumbnail + Shift.
  • Increase / Decrease Opacity in 1% steps: Click on the opacity field + Up / down arrows.
  • Increase / Decrease Opacity in 10% steps: Shift + Click in the opacity field + Up / down arrows.

    Hello Fran Marin! A query. I don't remember how it was to add vertices to the shapes from the keyboard, for example I take a square and transform it into a triangle or a polygon just by touching two keys
