Video Tutorial: Adobe Photoshop 3D Effect

3d-effect

The effect that we are going to see today is widely used lately as an aesthetic resource in many posters and graphic works. It's about the 3D effect. I am not referring to a 3D modeling effect, for that it would be necessary to work with other specific programs, if not rather to build an eaesthetics similar to those of the movies that are projected in the cinema and that are 3D.

I do not know if you have ever gone to the cinema to see a movie of this type and suddenly you have removed your special glasses in the middle of the projection, if you have done this, you will have seen how the image that we see totally clear through our glasses , has somewhat different contours. It is as if the silhouette is duplicated, somewhat distorted and somewhat displaced. As many of you know, a 3D image is made up of three layers, the original image layer, another red layer and another blue. These last two are slightly displaced to the left and to the right, in such a way that when using these glasses, we will unify these three elements in a single layer and then it will seem that the elements and characters actually cross the screen or the support where they are is playing.

What we are going to do more than simple. We will make a small rectangular selection from our image and crop it slightly. Then we will make a copy in the red channel of our channel palette and when we return to RGB mode we will see how the effect has been applied in a tremendously fast way.

Easy right?

Very good tutorial Fran, it uses a few steps and that is why I like it, I collected a PHOTO DIGITAL PC & MAC magazine and there was a tutorial on how to make a 3d effect (the magazine included glasses with red and green lenses and the effect was appreciated ), they use 2 layers in addition to the original and with "selective correction" and "numerical displacement" they will achieve the effect. I like both, because they are viable, so thank you.
