Video Tutorial: Loomax / Hollywood Effect in Lightroom

http://youtu.be/wl1e1aOxKbw

On a previous occasion we saw in a video tutorial how to apply the cinematic effect and it is in the same range as the Loomax or Hollywood effect although the latter is more glamorous and much more elegant. It is characterized by a considerable increase in sharpness, contrast, and by the predominance of cold tones, although there is also a certain presence of warm tones, which makes it really interesting. On the other hand, the vignetting effect gives it greater depth in lighting, which reinforces the idea of elegance, of sophisticated staging.

Do you want to know how to apply this effect? You can find the steps to follow below:

  • First we will modify the variables that are inside our basic settings panel (of course within the development module and after having imported our photograph from the library module).
    • We will increase the temperature of our image giving it a value of +10 so that warm tones predominate. At the same time we will slightly lower the hue, leaving it at -5.
    • We will lower the exposure (or general light of our image) to a value of -0,30. We will also increase the contrast by an amount of +25.
    • We will lower the black parameter to -15 and the clarity parameter, but in this case to -10.
  • As in the basic setting of clarity We have lowered the sharpness of the photograph slightly, we will try to balance this defect in the detail panel. We will apply a focus of 28 to it, and we will also apply the noise reduction setting with an amount of 24 in highlights and an amount of 8 in color.
  • We will go to the setting of split tones and we will maintain warm tones in highlights (with a tone of 30 and a saturation of 32). In the field of shadows we will give a colder touch with a tonality of 167 and a saturation of 210.
  • Finally we will apply a vignetting effect selecting the color priority setting with an amount of -71.

Easy, right?
