We have already reviewed the best what's new in Adobe Photoshop CC 2017 a few days ago, for just as many others to comment the best plays of Adobe Illustrator CC 2017 in that update of the whole suite of programs that are part of Creative Cloud 2017.

Now we move on to InDesign CC 2017, an application for digital layout of pages It was presented in 1999 and that in its beginnings it became an alternative to QuarkXpress. This year it was time to get a few updates to the UI.

The first is about the height of the tab panel, which can be controlled in the preferences window. In the dialog window in the interface category, you can enable or disable the new feature.

Older lashes reduce eye fatigue by adding distance between the tab mark and other interface elements. This is another feature that seems trivial, but was definitely added to make it easier for users who spend most of the day in front of the screen.

More news is related to typography improvements. Now there is a context menu for text frame selection when it works with OpenType fonts. When a text frame or text within a frame is selected a small OpenType property icon will appear providing access to additional options. This can speed up the process of selecting variations or alternatives within the font.

"Extend footnotes across columns" is a new option in footnote document options. When the new option is selected, it gets all footnotes in the document expand through the columns. It's one of those details that isn't a great feature, but it does come in handy.
